Yes, I am that girl who is taking her Halloween decorations down and putting her Christmas decorations up on November 1st!
I’ve always loved the holidays, but since I had my son I love them so much more. He loves the idea of Santa, and he thinks it’s magical that his stocking hangs from the fireplace and Santa slides down to fill it up with gifts.
It’s adorable that he tries to imagine what kind of snack Santa will want to eat this year – he even worries about the houses that don’t have Christmas lights and wonders if Santa will be able to see their houses.
The only thing I feel behind on this year was the outside of my home – we are working on decorating that as I write! We chose some pretty new lights and décor that are going up, and I will have another post on that soon mostly because it’s pretty funny how last year I HATED how my husband decorated the outside of our home, so now I’m in charge!
Here is what we did INSIDE this year!
First up, in the front hallway we added a bit of décor here and there to make things festive. I added in a Noel pillow from Canadian Tire, plus a couple wreathes from Michaels, a poinsettia (the only plant I seem to be able to keep alive), a mini gold Christmas tree from Homesense, and candles and a Noel basket from Michaels.
Moving into our living room our tree is from Amazon (similar), and I love how tall and skinny it is!
Previous to this we had a palm tree, so this was a big step up for us! We have changed the décor over the years, and with having a son you can imagine how he loves to choose some of the ornaments on the tree and it veers off from the original plan! The ribbon is from Michaels, and many of the ornaments are from our travels around the world. I got the idea from my parents who have a tree up all year round with ornaments from places they have travelled. I totally hijacked their idea, and as we have travelled we have brought back a Christmas ornament, and a fridge magnet from each destination.
This year I added these pineapples from Canadian Tire – how adorable are they?
The Let’s Cuddle pillow is from Amazon, while the Let it Snow pillow and all of the little décor touches are from Homesense.
Finally, the family room is where we spend most of our time, and this tree is a new addition for us! The tree is called the Pre-lit Harrison Noble Tree from Canadian Tire, and I have to say it’s the nicest tree I’ve ever seen!
It was SO easy to put together – everything was easily labelled, and the branches are more lifelike looking at the tips which is such a cool feature! Also, pre-lit trees are the way to go. I had no idea life could be so easy. Our other tree is not pre-lit, and it seemed like such a huge pain to wrap the lights around the tree once I had such an easy time with the other tree. There is a simple push button at the base of the tree to turn the lights on, and voila!
The theme of the ornaments on our tree is Canadiana (they are ALL from Canadian Tire), and they are just the cutest! Our son has been learning about Canada in school this year so he loved seeing all of the different ornaments on the tree. There is everything from Muskoka chairs, skiis, winter boots, and woodland creatures. I love that there is a bear for the top of the tree. As a set all of the ornaments look perfect together! I really think it fits the look of our family room as well.
On our fireplace we added a berry wreath from Homesense, along with some branches and berries from Michaels. Our stockings are from Pottery Barn Kids, and I had them embroidered with all of our names. A few other touches from Homesense are throughout the room as well.
Stay tuned for what we did to the outside of our home later this week!

Red looks amazing on you! But who am I kidding? You always look on point and amazing, girl.
Love your Christmas trees – they’re super pretty but not overdone. 🙂

Hi. Where is your Buddha wall art from..I love it!
Author
Thank you! It’s from Primitive Design in Port Hope, but it’s over ten years old, and it’s been painted quite a few times now! I’ve never seen anything like it there again unfortunately, but it was made in Bali.
What a lovely tree! Can I ask where you found the Canadian passport ornament?
