My husband ended up installing both pergola’s on his own, and both were done in only a few days each.

The pergola we installed in our backyard was a bit larger and had more of a modern feel (you can see the way that pergola turned out here), and I feel like this new pergola has more of a traditional feel.
We chose the 12×10 Stratford Traditional Steel Pergola which is made with galvanized steel and is powder coated. This pergola will be maintenance free and rust resistant which is perfect for the space we chose it for – our dock on lake Ontario!
At our dock we had a shipping container installed to use as storage and a bit of shelter, but we really needed something more on our deck so we could have a bit of coverage on those hot sunny days. One we saw this pergola on Backyard Discovery’s new Canadian website we thought it would be the perfect addition to this space.
Being so close to the water it’s great to know that we won’t need to worry about this pergola corroding or being effected by UV rays since it’s rust resistant. This pergola also has a 5-year limited warranty.
Unlike our other pergola this particular one does not require an additional fabric shade since the multi-level roof trellis provides shade. This pergola does also have a PowerPort™ like our other one at home which is amazing to plug in our devices!
Using the BILT app my husband had no issues at all putting this pergola together, and we actually had three different sizes to choose from (16×12, 14×10 and 12×10).
Overall I think adding this gorgeous pergola was the perfect idea for our dock! It really finishes the space, and we love how it all turned out. This pergola from Backyard Discovery is made with incredible quality, and we are so happy with their products for both projects!
