Review of Vichy Idéalia Day Care + A Giveaway!

Review of Vichy Idéalia Day Care + A Giveaway!

I don’t know what it is, but Vichy always seems to get it right! Their products always do what they say they are going to do, have a reasonable price point, and as a bonus they smell amazing! I get excited every time I try a new product from Vichy, and I was even more excited to try Idéalia Day Care because I tried the Vichy Idéalia Skin Sleep Recovery Night Gel-Balm and had loved it.

When I know I’m extra tired, if my skin is having issues, or I just want to look fresh in the morning, I use the Idéalia Skin Sleep Recovery and I wake up looking better than when I went to bed. That stuff is seriously magic.

The Idéalia Day Care had me hooked based on the smell alone. It just smells so fresh! Vichy really needs to come out with perfume because they come up with the prettiest scents!

I have a few skin issues plaguing me on the regular, and two of them are visible pores and fine lines (eek, I’m getting older!). These two issues are what Idealia Day Care is supposed to combat.

Maybe it’s the pretty pale pink color of the Idéalia Day Care, but as soon as I applied the cream I already look refreshed! It dried quickly so I could apply my makeup in the morning (I hate having to wait for creams to dry in the morning because I am already probably running late), and it wasn’t greasy under my makeup.

In comparison to the night gel-balm, the consistency of the Vichy’s Idéalia Day Care cream is much lighter, and well, more of a cream!

The main ingredient is Kombucha which is a tea concentrate known for it’s anti-oxidation properties. It also has Vitamin E, a natural antioxidant. Both seemed to help with minimizing the look of my pores.

Joe Fresh Beauty Arrives at Shoppers Drug Mart

Joe Fresh Beauty Arrives at Shoppers Drug Mart

Last week I attended a fun launch announcing Joe Fresh Beauty arriving at Shoppers Drug Mart. It’s now available at 850 Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharmaprix stores across Canada.

Wow it is affordable! The whole line ranges from $8 – $18, and they have more than 150 new cosmetic products.

I decided to try doing a quick look using a few of the Joe Fesh Beauty products this weekend to see how they stack up.

So, I’m kind of in love with their Matte Liquid Eyeliner! At only $12.00 it’s much cheaper than the one I have been using, and it’s very precise. It lasted all day, which is huge since I love to rub my eyes (bad habit).

The Hydra Lash Nourishing Mascara with Argan Oil is also only $12.00, and it had a brush I wasn’t used to. It was silicone which is what many of my mascara brushes are made of, but it was straight and very firm – it didn’t have as much give as the mascara brushes I have been using. I found I got quite a bit of length out of it, it didn’t flake, and it didn’t dry with a brittle look (likely due to the Argan oil).

The Lip Creme ($12.00) in Candy again has an amazing price point, and was much cheaper than the YSL one I currently have. The crazy thing was that the Joe Fresh version had a great scent and was practically the same colour as the YSL one I love. To find a new lipstick/lipgloss that had all the same perks for a much better price was awesome. It had a bit of shine, but nothing too overwhelming.

Finally the Champagne Highlighter Powder ($8.00) was a fun way to finish the look. It created a soft, natural glow that I blended in with my existing blush. It added just enough shimmer to brighten me up a little.

Overall it’s hard not to be impressed with the amazing price point of the Joe Fresh Beauty line since they have products that actually work. I created a really easy and soft look with the items from the Joe Fresh Beauty line.

My Top 5 Skincare Products for Surviving Winter

My Top 5 Skincare Products for Surviving Winter

I try a lot of beauty products for the blog, and I know that results of some products are heightened when you use the whole line, but sometimes I like choose an item or two from a brand instead of the whole kit.

This winter the weather has been up and down, and my skin luckily has had one of it’s best years! Usually with the weather changing I tend to go from dry to oily, from breakouts to unexplained itchy patches, but I’m on a roll right now and have had a good run of clear and healthy skin.

I have a few coveted products I have been using in the morning, at night, or often both so I thought I would share what has been working for me. Some of them I have already reviewed at length, and links to them are below.

To get off my waterproof eyeliner and mascara I depend on Benefit’s they’re Real Remover. I use Benefit mascara (I switch around between they’re Real and Roller Lash), so I suppose it’s a perfect match to use this remover, but the best part is that it’s a cream remover so it’s not harsh. I don’t feel like I’m going to lose an eye when I accidentally get it in there, and it doesn’t dry my skin out.

My favourite exfoliator right now is the Indeed Labs Facial Powdered Exfoliator. I blogged about this at the end of the summer and put together a little video of how it worked as well which you can take a look at here!

It’s gentle enough to use often. Some exfoliators I find to be very harsh, but this one I don’t mind using every day. That’s a big step for a girl like me who used to skip exfoliating all the time!

When it comes to eye cream, I can’t believe how freaking good this 100% Pure Organic Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream smells!

I have been using it for a couple of months and it’s lightened my under eye circles so it’s a winner. It’s also anti-inflammatory so it helps those early morning puffy eyes.

I unfortunately have an addiction to this Laneige Water Bank Gel Cream, but I supposed it’s not actually a bad thing because my skin has been incredibly healthy looking since I started using it!

I thought it was soothing from day one, but I really think it’s contributed to my clear and bright skin this winter.

Finally, my favourite smelling lotion EVER is Go Be Lovely Coconut Milk Mango Lavish Hand Creme. I bought it at Anthropologie, and I know it’s supposed to be a hand cream but I’m using it as an all-over body cream.

It smells fantastic, and the scent is long lasting. I love love love smelling like food, and this cream is incredible.

I hope the winter hasn’t been wreaking havoc on your own skin, and if it is then give some of these products I’m loving a try!

Review of Vichy Aqualia Thermal Extrasensitive

Review of Vichy Aqualia Thermal Extrasensitive

My skin goes a little crazy when the weather changes, and when I travel. Here in Canada the weather has been warm, cold, rainy and occasionally snowy, so I’ve been battling the conditions when it comes to my skin.

I also just travelled to New York City and for some reason being on planes tends to make my skin break out, and/or I get strange rashes or irritated patches after travel! It’s really frustrating knowing that it’s going to happen, and being unsure as to why exactly, and how to prevent it.

Over the last few weeks I have been calming my skin with Vichy’s Aqualia Thermal Extrasensitive Soothing Ultra-Calming Care cream.

Review of Vichy Aqualia Thermal Extrasensitive

It has a fresh fragrance, and it has a medium-thick consistency. I tend to get rashes around my chin, and I had one when I started to use this cream. Sometimes I worry that fragrant creams will irritate my sensitive skin, but it didn’t happen that way in this case. It felt great to apply to my face, and it was not irritating to my skin.

I would cleanse my skin at night, and then I would apply a small amount to my face and neck. I also applied it in the morning, but to be honest I don’t cleanse in the morning (I know, it’s horrible!) so I would just apply it when I woke up,and then applied my makeup.

I didn’t have any issues with it bothering my skin or causing it to break out – it actually did quite the opposite and was very soothing.

The formula includes highly concentrated in Vitamin B3, and Vichy Thermal Spa Water. It is a very hydrating cream! It isn’t so thick that my skin would get oily, and because of it’s consistency it was easily absorbed into my skin.

It’s preservative, paraben, alcohol and colourant free. I really love that it only pumps out what you need for a single use. You really don’t need much of this cream for coverage, and it’s in a great air-tight container.

I have been using it every day since I received it, and my skin seems very happy about it!
