The thing I love about living in Whitby is that there are so many amazing shops and restaurants that are unique to our town. Supporting local businesses this holiday season is more important than ever, so I’ve been making a conscious choice to shop and support local as much as possible.
Our takeout nights are always ordered from our favourite local gems, and my holiday shopping has included the small shops that line our downtown core and makers who are scattered across our local area.
I’m so excited to share that Durham Tourism, the Whitby Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Whitby are running an amazing contest where you can win one of eight prize packages for the holiday season! Each prize has an estimated retail value of $500 per prize, and entering might be easier than you think if you are supporting local businesses yourself.
To enter the contest, you need to follow Durham Tourism on Instagram, or like their Facebook page. Receive one entry when you share a photo and use the hashtag #ShopInDurham. Receive bonus entries by tagging Durham Region Tourism in a story post.
For more information, click here!
All of the prizes will be awarded during Shop in Durham Week in Durham Region December 14th to 18th!
The Town of Whitby Prize Pack includes gift cards to some of my favourite places in town:
Holiday Inn Express Whitby/Oshawa Overnight Stay
Chatterpaul’s – $100
Bistro ‘67 – $75
Words on Wood – $75
Markets By Dream Day $75
Greek Tycoon – $50
Brock St. Espresso – $25
Have you tried Brock St. Espresso’s Toasted Marshmallow Hot Chocolate yet? If you haven’t, check out my IG stories to see how it’s made!
Words on Wood is the perfect spot to find what you didn’t know you were looking for! Whenever I shop there I walk through the store over and over again to the trinkets and decor I missed the first time around. Even just the way they display their decor is so beautiful.
Bistro ‘67 is also on the list of retailers included in The Town of Whitby Prize Pack, and not only have I enjoyed their harvest dinner in the fall (it’s a bit of a culinary extravaganza!) and their wine and cheese board night, but I’ve brought home some of their delicious food from their Pantry as well! They are offering curbside pick up right now of their menu, and they are offering meal kits as well.
If your holiday shopping isn’t complete just yet, make sure to follow along with Durham Tourism on Instagram and their Facebook page to see what all of Durham Region has to offer this holiday season. Make sure you enter their amazing contest as well!
