I usually get an itch to travel if I haven’t been on a trip for a few months, so I decided to pack up and head to NYC for the weekend recently to unwind and get some shopping done!
This time I chose to stay at a new spot – Hotel 48LEX.
It was situated near all of the spots I love to frequent – a hop away from 5TH Avenue shopping, a few minutes from Times Square, and situated next to the subway line that would bring me to SoHo.
I arrived early in the morning to drop off my bags, and when I returned after my first round of shopping I was surprised to find they had already brought my bags to my room!
Anytime I drop by bags off at a hotel prior to check in this hasn’t been done for me in advance so I was VERY impressed!
The room was bigger than most NYC appartments I’m pretty sure! I had a corner suite with a wall of windows wrapping around the room!
The bathroom was spacious and clean, and I had a wine bar, mini bar and even a dish washer!
I dropped off my shopping bags and headed to the 7th floor to the lounge. They served complimentary wine and cheese every day in the afternoon, so I indulged a little. What a pretty space too!
When I returned to the hotel in the evening I found my robe laid out for me, the music on and chocolates – my favourite kind of surprise!
The next morning I headed to the lounge again for their complimentary European-style breakfast which included croissants, yogurt parfait, cereals, hard boiled eggs, meats, cheese, toast, coffee and juice.
I decided to check out early (even though they kindly offered me late checkout) and again stored my bags.
Later in the evening when I returned to the hotel I learned my flight was cancelled. All the staff at this point were amazing!
They gave me a spot to plug in my phone and make calls, they offered to have me in a room for another night if need be, and once I found a flight out they rushed my bags to me and threw me into a cab!
The staff were amazing throughout my whole stay. They offered to take photos of me outside the hotel like the tourist I am, they offered me cucumber and basil water whenever I frequented the lobby, gave me amazing subway directions, and helped me catch a cab multiple times!
I’d say there are a few things you should know before your check in!
The first is food – Hotel 48LEX has a restaurant called Lexington Brass with farm-to-table cuisine which I did not get a chance to try, but it was busy from the moment I arrived until I left! They also handle the hotel’s room service. There is also a $30 Prix Fixe Dinner menu that you can take advantage of.
I did experience the Lounge on the second floor for a European-style breakfast, and also for wine in the afternoon. They also offered expresso, cappuccino, americano’s or latte’s.
The location in Midtown Manhattan was perfect for my trip, and I really loved all of the extra amenities offered with my hotel stay.
Thank you to Hotel 48LEX for hosting me during my trip to NYC – I had an amazing time and can’t wait to head back!
