Our Date with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra – Home Alone in Concert!

Home Alone in Concert with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra

Last weekend we did something that I have always wanted to do! We attended the Toronto Symphony Orchestra’s Home Alone in Concert! While the movie played on the big screen, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra performed the music from the movie.

A couple of years ago I had seen that all of the concert dates and times were sold out for Home Alone in Concert, and I vowed I would make sure that I would be early to get tickets! A couple years later it was my first chance to see the show, and I was so excited!

We popped in to Meat & Pie Co. for dinner, then walked across the street to Roy Thompson Hall. Due to Covid protocols the capacity of the show was a bit less than usual, and masks had to be worn during the show although we could take off our masks to eat and drink. My son and I stopped for a quick snack and drink before we headed into the concert hall.

Roy Thompson Hall is such a great venue, and in this case it was perfect for watching a movie while experiencing a concert! The huge screen seemed to be viewable easily from all of the seats.

Everyone was so welcoming and helpful at the show – we had many offers from the staff to help us find the right entry door to find out seats, and we were even walked right to our row. We really felt like the ushers were happy to have us at the show! I think everyone was excited to be back for a concert like this.

The concert was everything I had hoped – my son was glued to the movie from start to finish, and just watching it with a group of people who were laughing and enjoying the whole experience made ME enjoy it even more!

The music was beautiful, and this experience was a perfect fit between the movie and the orchestra. I hadn’t thought about it before, but the music in Home Alone really is a huge part of the movie, so to hear it live was beautiful.

I am so happy we had this perfect holiday experience! I think my favorite part of the whole evening was that we could share this experience with our son. He really loved the whole concert, and we can’t wait to go to another Toronto Symphony Orchestra concert! I’m looking forward to bringing him to see the TSO more in the future.
