We have always had a love/hate relationship with our patio. What do we love about it? Two years ago we added a landing and new stairs, and some incredible custom glass railings which made our view of the ravine that we back and side onto even more incredible!
What have we disliked? Years ago we decided to buy a patio set that barely made it through it’s first summer without starting to fall apart. We spent a few years piecing it back together by purchasing a cover to protect the set, buying new cushions to replace the old faded and ruined ones, and adding as many outdoor pillows as possible to cover up the state of disarray it was in.
Finally at the end of last summer we decided to give up on our ramshackled set, and we decided to start fresh this year! We literally had a blank slate, and were determined to make our patio fabulous again while making sure we didn’t make the same mistakes we made in the past with a new patio set.
This time around we decided to buy our new set from The Home Depot for a few reasons. First off, we have done a few other projects with The Home Depot products over the past year and we have always been impressed with their selection (online and in-store they have everything you could think of in practically every department), and everything we’ve bought there has so far stood up to the test of time and weather.
After choosing what we thought we wanted online, we headed into our local store to see if the set we chose looked as good in person as it did online. Spoiler alert – it took us less than 3 minutes of ooing and ahhing to decide that the set was perfect!
We chose a patio set from The Home Depot’s private Home Decorators Collection brand, and this is the first year they have ever had patio furniture from this exclusive brand! I knew this set was special as soon as I laid eyes on it, but after hearing that I knew it absolutely! I tend to choose things that are somehow unattainable (this is the norm for me when it comes to shoes, bags and furniture it seems), but in this case I chose something exclusive, but at the same time easily attainable!
The set is called the Creston 4-Piece Patio Chat Set, and it comes with a 7 year warranty on the frame, and a 5 year warranty on the fabric. This was a HUGE bonus for us since our last set had a frame that rusted, and the cushions that lasted a year became so faded it was embarrassing.
This set is made with a powder-coated Aluminum frame so it’s actually a tad lighter than it looks (which is great for me because I’m always moving furniture around to spice things up!), and the seating is extra deep so it’s very comfortable to sit on.
Huge bonus – the polyester furniture cover was included! I loved this because we bought two different furniture covers during the lifetime of our last set because neither fit the set properly (as we bought it separate from our set), and it was just another cost added to our already dwindling set.
The cushions are weather-resistant which protects against fading, and they are easily cleaned with a mild soap and water.
Our outdoor rug was the perfect match – it’s the THD Fresco 7ft. 7-inch x 10ft. 10-inch Indoor/Outdoor Area Rug that was available in-store, and although I thought at first I would add a rug with a bit more colour, I decided to match the set completely with this rug, and contrast my decor with more colour.
I chose four Hampton Bay Outdoor Lumbar Pillows in Black Cabana Stripe to go with the set because I’m a big lover of black and white stripes! I thought they were a fun addition, and it made it easier to add in my palm print and pineapple accessories!
I also added in a couple palm trees from The Home Depot, and two white planters to set the palm trees in so they looked a little more chic!
We’ve sat on this set every night since we put it together, and we couldn’t be happier with our patio! It’s the perfect spot for summer entertaining, or enjoying a glass of wine at the end of a night.
Thank you to The Home Depot for collaborating with me on this blog post!
