It’s amazing how much a small change makes a big difference – especially when it comes to something in your home!
After a year of spending more time travelling than ever as a family, being home has been a much bigger sanctuary to us than ever. Travelling also brings another element – inspiration for bringing what you’ve seen on your travels into your home!
It’s amazing how many things we haven’t changed since we moved into our new home six years ago. The builder paint has been painted over, the trim has been removed and upgraded, pot lights have been added, most of the light fixtures have been changed, but there are a few small things that recently have been glaring back at us lately.
The builder’s faucet in the kitchen has been there since the beginning, and it was one of the first things we promised ourselves to change! Here we were 6 years later wondering how we made it this far without changing it.
On a trip away to Martha’s Vineyard we found ourselves spending a lot of time taking in the details of the hotels we stayed in, and the decor style we came to love along the way. We decided shortly after we returned home it was time to change the things we always wanted to change to not only update our space, but to finally make it completely our own.
I just hate sharing before photos because they are always so sad looking once I know the final product. Here we go – our sad before photos of our kitchen faucet!
I know, it was really bad right? It’s incredible what one small change can make! Once our son walked into the kitchen after we completed the installation, the new faucet was the first thing he noticed! He looked at it and actually said “wow!”. How’s that for a reaction!
We chose to update our space with the Grohe “Tallinn” Kitchen Pull-Out Faucet.
Finally I could get rid of my soap bottle on the counter in exchange for this new matching soap dispenser. It seems like a small change, but 6 years of having it on the counter was a nice difference and made the space look cleaner.
Unlike my sad old kitchen faucet that the builder installed, my new one has Dual Spray with a toggle function so I could switch between regular water flow and a high-performance spray. It’s life changing – I’m not kidding!
The EasyDock feature makes using the pull-down spray so easy to use – I can retract it quickly, and I can easily clean what I need to from a far distance from the tap.
The Grohe StarLight finish is meant to resist dirt and tarnishing. Since we have installed this faucet I’ve hardly had to clean it. It just LOOKS clean!
On the blog I rarely have much to do with installation, but this one I watched because it was crazy quick! The faucet fit right into the hole we already had in the granite from our last faucet, and my husband quickly and easily drilled a hole for the soap dispenser.
It’s amazing how one little change can transform a space! Is it strange to love a kitchen faucet? Because I really love this one! It’s easier to clean my dishes, and it looks so much sleeker than my last faucet!

Thank you to The Home Depot for teaming up with us on this post! We were so happy to finally make this small change that made a big difference in our home!
