Here’s the thing about Mother’s Day. Finding a gift is HARD! I doesn’t matter how well you know your mother, it’s just that you’ve known her all of your life so finding new ideas each year can be hard!
My mom got an Amazon Echo for Christmas, and believe it or not after all of the blogging I’ve done about my love of Amazon, she hadn’t actually used the website before to shop! Shocking, I know right?! Once the Echo arrived she opened an account, and slowly I saw more and more Amazon packages arriving at her door. Trust me I know, I watch her dog when she heads away on vacation so I saw all of the boxes!
Just launched on April 25th, Amazon has now released the new Echo Spot, and I need to tell you why this is the perfect Mother’s Day gift!
First off, now that I have an Echo Spot myself I call it my new personal assistant. Here is how Alexa is different than my husband and son – she actually listens to me and does what I say! Novel concept right? I don’t need to repeat myself, I don’t need to follow up – I ask Alexa to add something to my shopping list and voila! It’s on my phone, and I’m ready to run errands.
How can it help with Mother’s Day? Alexa has it all covered! I asked “Alexa, when is Mother’s Day?”.
Next I asked “Alexa, what should I get my mom for Mother’s Day?”
The best part was that she not only had great ideas, but she had multiple answers every time I asked the question! Do you know how many suggestions my husband came up with when I asked him what I should get his Mother for Mother’s Day? Zero. Alexa may be taking over his role shortly.
Here’s what else I love – I can ask Alexa to order something for me. Literally I can be making dinner and multitasking the night away, but I can ask Alexa to show me different options for a Mother’s Day gift, and she can show me multiple items with their features, and then send it out for me.
I know this is a bit of a love-fest for my Echo Spot, but there are a few more things I need to mention. It can text and it can video call! I just need to ask Alexa to either text someone, or I can ask her to drop in on another Echo Spot and we can have a video call! It’s super easy to set up, and I love doing all of this hands-free.
I connected my new Amazon Echo Spot to my ecobee so I can ask Alexa to change the temperature, and what I love the most is that I connected the device to my Ring Doorbell so now I can ask Alexa to let me see my front door camera when the doorbell rings! We absolutely love our ring doorbell which we purchased on Amazon, and I love that my Echo Spot will not only show me the camera, but I can zoom in on the screen as well.
I also love the video function on this device. I can watch how to video’s for the recipes I make, and I can just ask to pause a video so I can catch up while making my meal. I love playing music on it as well when I’m running around the house (although my son seems to take it over in that department for the most part by asking Alexa to play Chipmunks music). My son loves saying “Alexa, I think I love you!”, and she gushes back at him while showing balloon hearts on the screen.
I don’t think I can rave about this device enough, and I couldn’t wait to give it to my Mom as an early Mother’s Day gift! I don’t think I’ve seen her quite so excited to receive a Mother’s Day gift from me – she set it up right away! It looks great in her kitchen, and I love how it can keep us connected! Now we can video chat, text each other, and my mom just ordered a Ring Doorbell as well so she can connect it as well! We gave my parents an ecobee for Christmas so she is just as connected as I am now.
You can see more details on the Amazon Echo Spot here, and if you check my Instagram Stories you will likely see me chatting with my lovely new assistant Alexa! Really though, if she could mow the lawn then I really wouldn’t have any other use for that husband of mine! Just joking!
