Every year we love visiting WinterFest, and I realized that I’ve never written about what to expect and what we love there!
I think my son loves this time of year the most at Canada’s Wonderland! We spend our spring, summer and fall there, but he seems to love WinterFest the most.
I’ll talk about the food first – that’s usually what we get really excited about!
We had the Smoked Turkey Holiday Dinner at Lazy Bear Lodge, but it was hard to choose what to have since they also had a Maple Grilled Pork Chop, or their Breaded Chicken Fingers which are always so good!
Something else to consider – the Turkey Dinner Ball from Grande World Eatery – it’s turkey, stuffing and gravy rolled into a ball, and it’s fried and then served with cranberry sauce and potatoes.
Some of the fun desserts include the Butter Tart Funnel cake, and the Gingerbread Funnel Fritters! The one thing I haven’t tried yet is the Gingerbread Hot Chocolate! Next time we go I want to try this drink, and the Holly Jolly Hot Cocoa with Baileys!
I think the thing I really love about WinterFest is all of the holiday shopping! All of the stores in the park actually have amazing shopping. Every store is a little bit different, and there is so much to choose from. Toys, ornaments, clothing, and all kinds of other gifts – it’s so fun to see what each store has to offer
Are the rides open? Yes! Not all, but many are open, and can be even more fun in the snow. You can read a full list of the rides that are open here!
There are some fun activities and experiences you will want to try when you visit WinterFest. We always stop by Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen in Yuletide Village for cookie decorating. My son and his friend have been doing this for years and they love it! It’s a beautiful set up in that space, and it feels very festive because of the theming. We save the cookies until the end of the night so we don’t need to worry about carrying around the box.
There are lots of other fun experiences like meeting Santa, ice skating, and writing a letter to him at the North Pole Post office. You can read about all of the events and experiences here!
There is so much more to enjoy at WinterFest – so much we are going back again! It runs until January 4th, and it’s such a great festive experience. I love just walking around and seeing all of the lights and displays.
