What is more decadent then spending the afternoon with a group of girlfriends at fabulous hotel? I’m not sure, so I’m going with enjoying a gorgeous tea service with desserts almost too pretty to eat, and sipping on champagne and enjoying each other’s company would be the best way to go!
Last week I talked about our fun girl’s weekend in Toronto on the blog, and now I want to talk all about our Sunday of that weekend. It was such a fun day it deserved it’s own post! We had Afternoon Tea at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel, and I can’t wait to share the details with you!
I spent that Sunday with Zeba from Ella Pretty Blog, Jenelle from Nelle Creations and Eleni from Bijuleni.
First of all, we absolutely glammed up for our Sunday Tea at the hotel! Although it’s a great idea to have tea with your significant other (which plenty others were on the Sunday we were at the hotel), we found it really fun to dress up and enjoy the afternoon as a girls outing. Although the dress code is casual, we decided to take things up a notch with our looks.
The hotel itself is one of the most famous and recognizable in Toronto. The lobby is a spot where you could spot a celebrity, or just feel like one in the opulent surroundings. After dropping off my car with the valet we were ready to enjoy our lunch.
Afternoon Tea at the Fairmont Royal York is held in the Library Bar (it’s been a tradition for the hotel since it’s opening in 1929), and it’s filled with just what you would expect from the name – books, and cozy corners with huge windows looking onto Front Street. We sat down and couldn’t’ believe that everything on the menu was coming our way!
Luckily the menu also allows the option of accommodating dietary restrictions which was great for those in our party who had them, and from there we set out choosing our teas to enjoy. I tried out a tea infused with Niagara Ice Wine which I had never tried before, but it turns out it’s just my type of tea. It was SO good! I would head back to the hotel just for this tea. It had the perfect subtle taste of ice wine, and it’s hands-down the best tea I’ve had.
We also had a bit of champagne (of course!), and when our lunch arrived we were pretty excited.
Mini sandwiches make me happy. I love sampling all kinds of amazing food, and having these little bite-sized sandwiches made my day! You would think these little sandwiches wouldn’t fill you up, but everything was so good and we were so full that we were trying to take deep breath’s just to fit more.
Dessert on the top of our lunch tower of amazingness finished us off – we couldn’t fit another bite, but we made sure to eat everything we could.
The atmosphere of the room played into our perfect afternoon. Everyone was laughing and enjoying their lunch, and raving over their food. It really adds to your own experience when everyone around you is having an amazing time!
We relaxed and chatted our afternoon away, loving every bite and enjoying ever sip of our champagne and our personally chosen teas. It’s so nice to have a little getaway in the city to reset for the following week.
You can enjoy Afternoon Tea at the Fairmont Royal York hotel Saturday’s and Sunday’s with seatings at 12pm, 12:30pm and 2:30pm.
Reservations are recommended, and for more information you may visit them here.
They also offer a historical hotel tour with their Afternoon Tea service where you can enjoy an exclusive tour of the hotel. We had our own little private tour and it was totally worth the experience!
The only problem with our Sunday afternoon? Nothing makes you dread your Monday more then spending your Sunday in such a fabulous way. I could barely drag myself out of bed the next day after having such a fun day with my girls!
Thank you to the Fairmont Royal York for hosting us for the afternoon! We had such a fun time, and I can’t wait to go back. Just writing this post made me crave those little sandwiches all over again!
