Canadian Skincare from La Maison Clayton Shagal Review

Spending so much time at home has made me approach things a little bit differently when it comes to self care. Staying home means I can’t do those little things like fitting in a pedicure or a facial the way I used to, so using products that have that luxurious spa-like feel to them has been making all the difference.

I recently started using a Canadian skincare brand called La Maison Clayton Shagal, and these high-end body and face treatments have definitely made a difference in my skin, and in my mindset.

The brand is based out of Montreal, and they have been a leader in skincare for over 35 years. They design and manufacture all of their products in their facility in Montreal, and they create products for all skincare types including normal, oily, dry, sensitive, acneic or combination.

Clayton Shagal collaborates with estheticians and physicians around the world to create their products, and it shows because the products I have been using have started to make a real difference in my skin. It also helps that they feel so soothing and moisturizing.

My routine starts with the La Maison Clayton Shagal Purifying Gel Cleanser. Starting with a fresh slate in either the morning or evening is the best feeling!

Adding just a little water, this cleanser does its magic and thoroughly cleanses my skin without drying it out. I love that it leaves my skin so refreshed! This cleanser purifies and tightens pores and, helps to control breakouts, and its Hydrolyzed soy protein helps to improve moisture retention and skin texture. One of its other ingredients, tea tree leaf oil, has anti-bacterial and anti-septic properties as well.

La Maison Clayton Shagal has three different facial scrubs in its line, and I tried out the Oat Bran Scrub. First off, it smells amazing! I loved the scent – it’s subtle and smells like something I would have used at a spa.

What I love about this scrub is that you can apply it a bit differently than most scrubs. One way I love using it is leaving it on for 3-5 minutes, and then adding a bit of water on my hands before I slowly exfoliate. This process seems to do a better exfoliation than just scrubbing it on and off as I have done with other products.

Another neat way to use this exfoliator for a deeper cleansing is to use it in the shower. The steam actually releases the oat bran and allows it to seep into the pores.

Both processes left my skin feeling the same – smoother and more radiant! I am prone to oily skin so this product is perfect for me.

There is no better way to achieve self-care than relaxing with a great mask!

I used the Clayton Shagal Mokaccino Mask and again, I adored the scent each time I used it! I think it’s the combination between the Cocoa ingredient and the Coffee Arabica Seed Powder ingredient which makes it smell so good!

Those ingredients I mentioned help to hydrate and heal, and also have anti-inflammatory properties that stimulate blood flow.

Another neat thing about this mask is that it can actually be used on your body – not just your face!

The mask helps to improve the visible signs of aging and damage caused by UV rays, helps to preserve and stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, reduces skin spots and blemishes, and also reduces dark circles and puffiness around the eyes.

The Ultra Matifying Cream just feels so good to put on! This cream is perfect for a girl like me who’s been cursed with oily skin.

My skin loves this ultra-light moisturizer. It seems to hydrate my skin without making it oily, and it has a mattifying effect that I love for my t-zone. It contains Vitamin E, which is an antioxidant that protects skin and reduces damage called by free radicals, Glycerin, which hydrates and softens skin, and Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, which improves moisture retention and skin texture. I choose to wear this product in the morning because it’s light enough to wear under my makeup, and my makeup stays put under it!

It’s difficult to choose a favourite product from all of these so far, but I think if I had to choose my favourite, it would be the Elastin Gel Plus.

I LOVE the moisture this product brings to my skin! It feels so soothing to put on my face and neck, and I love using it at the end of my skincare routine. The Elastin Gel Plus is actually a repairing treatment that’s meant to brighten, firm and smooth skin.

It contains Alpha-Elastin, which is a natural, fibrous structural protein rich in amino acids with elastic and firming properties. This means that it provides my skin with significant elastin intake and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin in the dermis.

What is really interesting about this product is that once you apply it, if it’s not fully absorbed into the skin in 60 seconds, then you know you have used too much.

There is one more product on my counter from Clayton Shagal that I haven’t tried just yet – it’s their Clear Skin.

Clear skin is a spot treatment for breakouts, and it’s to be applied directly to the affected area two to three times per day. It helps to get rid of breakouts, reduces pimples, accelerates healing, and reduces skin irritation and inflammation.

Luckily (or unluckily in this case), I’ve been unable to try this product just yet because my skin has been clear, but I cannot wait to try this product to see how it works!

Using all of these products have made me feel like I’m having a spa experience at home. Every product feels so luxurious to use, and I can’t wait to see the difference in my skin over the next few months. Already my skin feels so moisturized, and looks incredibly clear!
