Lately I have been sticking with the basics – minimal jewelry, whites and neutrals, and more of a classic look. This dress I’m wearing is from Canadian fashion designer Sara Duke, and it’s called the Tanner Dress. I think it fits in perfectly with my plan of sticking with basic fashion staples.

This is actually the only dress I have in my closet with this length, and I thought it would be really fun to wear it with my boots that have taken me through spring.

The weather has been up and down, so I paired the dress with a cozy pullover sweater from Zara, and left the rest of my outfit very basic other than my sunglasses. What I love about this dress is that it’s a transitional piece, so I could wear it on it’s own or add as many layers as I needed not only for warmth (I AM Canadian), or for a different look.

What do you think about how I wore this dress? Is it better left minimal, or would it be better to dress it up with more layers and accessories?

Donate Your Formalwear for a Good Cause to Fairy Godmother’s Closet

Do you have any formal attire in your closet that you don’t need any more? If you do, I have the perfect spot for you to donate it!

Fairy Godmother’s Closet is run by the Optimist Club of Brooklin, and they accept donations for suits, dresses, accessories and shoes for the teenagers who need it for their grade 8 graduation or prom.

They loan attire for these events in hopes that everyone has the opportunity to look fabulous for their big night out, and it’s an incredible program which needs donations.

April 30th is their big day for fittings, so it’s important that they receive as many donations as possible.

Please take a look in your closet and if you have any formal dresses, suits, accessories or shoes, please donate them!

I’ve already taken a look through my closet and I have my own donation to drop off!

My styling appointment included a quick assessment from the Master of Denim on what my personal style entailed, and we shopped the store together looking for a few different styles for me to try on.

I tried on a few looks during my appointment that I really loved, and I could have bought quite a few different pairs of denim while I was shopping the store!

Finally we mutually decided on a par of white distressed jeans from a brand called Just Black. I had never tried jeans from this brand before, but they really were a perfect fit!

My Jean Machine Master of Denim can take full credit for the purchase because he actually suggested purchasing this pair a full size smaller than I regularly wear. As soon as I started to protest he told me to trust him, and I did and they fit perfectly!

Even after washing them, these jeans are my perfect fit, and I love how easy they are to style!

Not only is this pretty spring dress perfect for me style-wise, but also by fit!

This dress is from eShakti.com - an online women's boutique which offers custom clothing, and when they say custom, they really mean it.

I was able to choose style of my dress, the length, the collar, the sleeves, and even if it had pockets or not (OF COURSE pockets, right?).

eShakti carries sizes 0-36W, and they have so many dresses to choose from!

It's possible to just choose a dress in a standard size, or you can input your custom measurements, and voila! The best part about the whole process is you can save your sizing information in your account so your next purchase is easy to order.

The dress arrived in just over a week, perfectly packaged in a box wrapped in tissue and left at my doorstep.

I really wasn't sure how this would work out, but when my dress arrived I was so excited! It was an absolute perfect fit - even under the arms where I normally find dresses don't look right on me, this one was tailored for me.

The fabric was impressive and the dress was not only lined, but the skirt of the dress had a slip as well.

Overall I loved the dress, and I would absolutely order from eShakti again!
