Styling a Bohemian Headband Featuring Bechique

Bechique sparkleshinylove

I love accessories that do more than compliment an outfit – I covet the ones that you create an outfit around.

I came across this amazing headband from a boutique called bechique on Etsy, and I knew this would be one of those coveted pieces for me.

Chelsea from bechique creates accessories that have a bohemian, free-spirited vibe that she designs and creates herself.

I wanted to pair the headband with an easy white dress and my fringed Minnetonka’s that I’ll be wearing all year since it’s all about the fringe this year.

I love finding things on Etsy because many the designers create things you are not going to find anywhere else. You’ll be seeing me wearing a lot of this headband in the near future!

My Love for the Tangle Teezer

Tangle Teezer sparkleshinylove

I received the Tangle Teezer for review last week, and at first I didn’t expect much from this little brush. Incredibly, 10 Tangle Teezers are sold globally every minute, so something had to be amazing about this brush!

It has a very sleek design! Not only is it pretty to look at, but it’s compact and fits easily inside my smallest bag.

But what exactly sets it apart from other brushes? I have had the same compact brush for a few years now, and I thought it was working just fine.

When I finally tried the Tangle Teezer, I understood what the hype was.

The bristles are very fine, so it felt like a lovely scalp massage each time I brushed my hair. That was a bit different than what I was used to with my regular brush. I also didn’t get my hair tangled at all while brushing. I have very fine hair, so this is normally a problem for me.

One thing I really loved that wasn’t an advertised perk of the brush was that it combatted my static issue. I have a static problem with my hair all winter, and when I brush my hair it automatically stands on end. With this brush that just didn’t happen. I was really surprised since that wasn’t one of the claims this brush made. Loved this perk!

At this point that other brush I was using previously has been left at home while I carry my new Tangle Teezer around in my purse. I was really surprised I liked it so much because it just seemed like another brush at first glance. I realized after using it I loved the bristles, I loved that it didn’t get tangled in my hair and kept it knot-free, that it was nice and compact, and no static!

It also has a removable click-on cover as part of the design to make sure the teeth don’t get any fluff or dirt in it.

It is also a great teaser as well. I used it to tease my hair into a ponytail and it did a great job at giving me some much needed volume.

The Tangle Teezer Compact Styler line is available at Sephora in 4 colours: Pink Sizzle, Feline Groovy, Gold Rush and Rockstar Black ($25 CND).

H&M Studio Spring/Summer 2015 Preview

H&M studio spring/summer 2015 preview

Last week I attended the preview for H&M’s Spring/Summer 2015 Studio collection at Colette Grand Cafe in Toronto.

It was so refreshing to see spring clothes in this freezing cold weather we have been having! It made me daydream about wearing some of these effortless clothes on sunny days.

There were lots of pastels, Miami-pink and peach, and pale denim in the collection.

The silk fabrics gave the collection a very glamorous look, and I really want to get my hands on the snakeskin-print pyjama style top and pants. I can’t wait to wear coordinates this spring! It’s such an effortless look, and I made it pretty clear with this post from a couple weeks ago that H&M has some great spring coordinate finds.

I really want to get my hands on the green and pink patterned caftan to wear poolside as well!

The laid-back life of Miami and Palm Springs influence this collection, along with a few sports influences as well.

The collection launches worldwide March 12th. Check out my photos from the event below!

Styling the Fringe Trend For Spring

H&M Fringe Purse sparkleshinylove Mandy Furnis

I don’t know if you’ve noticed yet, but everything for spring is going to have a fringe on it. New York Fashion week just ended, and the runways were covered in fringe styled on dresses, bags, tops, shoes – anything you could put it on basically.

I love that it can go hand-in-hand with the 70’s vibe we will see for spring this year as well, or it can be dressed up like in this bag I’m wearing in the photos. I absolutely love the color of this bag, and it’s one of the cutest fringed bags I have seen so far as spring items are hitting the stores. I found this purse at H&M for only $29.95, and you can see it here on their website.

Coordinates Trend for Spring

Mandy Furnis sparkleshinylove

Let me tell you, this weekend when I put this outfit on to take photos for the blog I almost didn’t because it was absolutely freezing! Showing off a new spring outfit in -25 degree weather is not the smartest idea, but this outfit was as comfortable as a good pair of pyjamas so it all worked out.

I was really worried that a matching patterned outfit would look a little strange, but I actually really love this look! My outfit here is from H&M, but is only sold in stores.

The best part about this trend is you don’t have to think hard about what top or bottom to wear – it’s a packaged deal!

Everything shown in this post is sold separately, so you have the option of not matching everything, or wearing a really great contrasting pattern.

Here are a few more of my favourites!
