One of the hardest events to dress for is a wedding! If you aren’t the bride (and that’s a whole other complicated matter when it comes to finding the perfect dress), then you are tasked with the difficult job of finding a dress to wear as a wedding guest.
There are a few unspoken rules when it comes to what to wear to a wedding – the most important rule is not to wear white (unless the invitation asks otherwise), but the other difficult issues when dressing for a wedding include avoiding wearing the same dress as another guest (which I’ve done!), finding a dress that may not call too much attention to yourself (you wouldn’t want to upstage the bride), and trying not to match the bridesmaids (something I’ve also come close to doing).
So many people have said to me they have a hard time finding a dress to wear to a wedding. This can be because of the type of wedding you are attending! A formal wedding would likely have a totally different look and feel than a beach wedding, or an outdoor wedding in cottage country may have a different vibe than a downtown wedding.
I’ve teamed up with some of my favourite bloggers to bring your four different looks to wear to a wedding – each being a different type of wedding. All of us shopped for our looks at the Oshawa Centre, and we can’t wait to share what we found!
The look I shopped for was for a beach wedding, and with all of the new stores open at the Oshawa Centre because of last year’s expansion I had so many shopping options!
I found the prettiest dresses at Zara, Forever 21, The Bay, RW & Co, and Dynamite, but I decided to go with this pretty yellow maxi dress from H&M. It was $59.95, and it looked so pretty to twirl in!
I loved the idea of wearing a bright colour for a beach wedding, and normally a maxi dress might be hot for a wedding but I knew that on a breezy beach it would be perfect.
I decided to keep the fun pop’s of colour going with these pretty green tassel earrings from H&M (they were only $14.95 and also come in rose gold, silver, navy, and red right now), and this pretty patterned clutch from Aldo which was on sale for only $19.99!
I loved the contrast of green with my dress, and because I was wearing so much colour I decided to keep my shoes neutral.
I paired my dress with these nude wedge sandals from Le Chateau – they are a great investment at only $59.95 because they would go with any dress and I can wear them again and again.
Basically I’m in love with this look, and I found it so easy to put together! I found so many more dresses at the Oshawa Centre I could have worn to a summer or fall wedding I almost wanted to put together two looks!
As you can see the other ladies were very successful shopping at the Oshawa Centre for their wedding guest looks, and you can read more on the details of their looks on their blogs! Be sure to visit Ella Pretty Blog, Bijuleni, and Nelle Creations to see how they chose each look.
How would you like to go shopping for your own wedding guest look? We are going to make things very easy for you – now that we’ve shown you some of our favourite styles, we are giving away a $500 Oshawa Centre gift card to one lucky reader!
