I wanted to share with you my experience choosing these looks last week but every time I’ve tried to shoot these outfits it’s been raining – including the day we finally shot! I’m not sure what it is, but I just tend to have bad luck and book the one rainy day in between a string of sunny days!
Finally I’m happy to share two looks from Garbo’s Boutique – a new shopping spot for me that I’ve just discovered, but it’s been thriving locally for years.
A few weeks ago I was at an event at Rousseu’s in Whitby, and the party included a fashion show featuring Garbo’s. I couldn’t get over this baby blue skull sweater that came down the runway. I had to have it! A few weeks after the party I sent a message to the Garbo’s Boutique Instagram account asking about the sweater, and luckily they still had it in stock so I took this opportunity to pop into the boutique.
If you haven’t been, the boutique is located in Ajax and it’s in the stunning home of the owner. As I walked inside I couldn’t believe how pretty the space was! The change room was HUGE, there was plenty of space to shop, and it was bustling with customers on a Saturday.
Garbo’s has open hours on Saturday’s, but otherwise you can book a private shopping appointment during the week. I asked a few questions about this in particular as I know some people can feel intimidated by a private shopping appointment.
There is no obligation to buy with a private appointment at Garbo’s Boutique – it just means you have the store to yourself shop, try things on, enjoy a glass of wine or water, and enjoy yourself. They really have a no pressure approach to shopping. If you are looking for assistance, they are happy to provide it, and if you would love to hear what they have to say about the fit or style they offer their help, but if you are just looking to pick out a few things you love then they give you your space.
Garbo’s offers a few other services that I know some ladies would love to try! Their Closet Clarity service includes help with messy closets and organization, while their Personal/At Home Shopping appointments offer to save you time by having someone from the store go to your home and bring you personally chosen items so you can shop in comfort!
I was so impressed with what Garbo’s Boutique carried on my visit. They head to New York, Montreal and Europe to buy their lines for their customers, and some of the brands they carry include LINE, Mackage, Animapop, Hanky Panky, Brokie and Cambio.
While I was at the fashion show I heard more than one person comment about how they have been long-time customers of Garbo’s, and a few even mentioned buying a whole seasons worth of clothing in one visit!
I chose one pair of pants, and I put together two different ways to style them. My top and jacket in the first set of photos are by Pam & Gela, and I thought they were really fun paired together with my white jeans by Cambio.
Of course I had to grab that skull sweater! It’s perfect for summer, and I thought it was was something that I could easily pair with jean shorts this summer for a casual look.
I had a lot of fun shopping at Garbo’s and choosing these two looks they provided for this blog post! I really loved the atmosphere of the store, and the attentive staff who helped me choose these two looks. They were there to zip every zipper, and to tug and pull each piece of clothing into place so I could make my selections. They have a great team, and I loved the store’s selection!
