Last week I travelled back to Ste. Anne’s spa (last year’s review is here) but tried to do things a little differently – our group of girls rented a cottage and stayed overnight!
In the past our group of girls has always had either someone pregnant, or they had just had a little one and couldn’t get away overnight but this time we were ready to take this spa trip overnight.
Ste. Anne’s not only has accommodations on-site, but they also have seven private cottages close to the spa that you can rent for your getaway.
We checked into the main building spa, and couldn’t wait to see our cottage for the weekend.
First we made a pit stop to the Ste. Anne’s Bakery located just beside our cottage (convenient much?) for some cupcakes, macaroons, and whatever other baked goods that probably wouldn’t taste as good if we attempted to make them!
Our cottage was called the Vista Lago, and it was the furthest from the spa. When we wanted to get to the spa we needed to drive (especially in the snow). I suppose you could walk in better weather, but it would be a bit of a trek. Our cottage came with four bedrooms and two bathrooms, and each room had its own decor and feel.
Downstairs we had a living room with a fireplace, and a boardroom which we tried to utilize but we couldn’t get the tech stuff up and running. Because when you have a boardroom in your cottage during a spa weekend, why wouldn’t you have a meeting in it? Well we tried, but we had to take our chat session and annual trip planning meeting to the kitchen instead.
Our kitchen had a table that was set for our dinner when we checked in. Our booking agent had checked in with us prior to arrival with our menu choices, so we just needed to be back at our cottage for dinner where everything would be taken care of.
With all four of our schedules coordinated, we headed to the spa so we could get into those comfy robes they provide.
Staying overnight really meant less thinking about going home and more about having fun and relaxing. It was nice knowing we were staying overnight and had a second day at the spa as well.
My first service was a Swedish Massage, and then I met the girls for afternoon tea. I’ve had breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the spa but I think afternoon tea may be my favourite. A sample of everything on the menu is on your tower, and everything is good and anything you want seconds of (yes we asked for more) is brought to you!
We headed back to our cozy cottage for a quick change into trackpants and dinner. I’ve never had such a fancy dinner in a sweatshirt!
Our chef was super nice and worked away in the kitchen and brought us our appetizers as we sipped champagne by the fireplace.
Seriously, how amazing does that sound? Because it WAS amazing, and I think we all felt spoiled. I personally was thinking about how easily I could get used to this lifestyle!
Our Chef offered for us to join him to watch him make dinner in the kitchen, which we happily obliged! By then we finished the bottle of champagne and moved onto wine while we chatted between each course.
The dinner was FABULOUS! A four course dinner that had us all stuffed. Seriously – it was amazing! And just like that we finished dinner, our chef made the kitchen spotless and was saying goodbye before we knew it. This is a MUST if you stay a cottage at Ste. Anne’s – a personal chef ensured we stayed cozy in our cottage and gave us more time to chat and enjoy the whole experience.
Our cottage included a deck with a hot tub backing onto a forested area, so we spent the rest of the night in the hot tub before heading off to bed.
Day two began with a robe, so we were all living the dream. We drove back to the spa for day two of our services. We started with breakfast, then we paired off into the steam room and outdoor hot tub. I’ve never been in a hot tub with snow like that (oh yeah, there was kind of a major snowstorm that day!), and then we bee-lined for the massage chairs.
My final service was a Seaweed Body Wrap which I had never had before! It was a really fun service and I would absolutely do it again! I was scrubbed, wrapped and massaged. Heaven.
We finished with lunch (again, incredible) and headed home. In a snowstorm. To babies and toddlers. So leaving was HARD for all of the reasons I previously mentioned. But it was taking off the robe that was really hard.
As usual, we had an amazing time at Ste. Anne’s Spa, and we loved staying overnight for a totally different experience then just visiting the day spa. Both are amazing ways to relax, but staying over night was so much fun.
We are already plotting our return! We haven’t visited the spa in the summer before, and there are a few renovations at the spa slated to be done soon, so we can’t wait to return.
If you are looking for a getaway to relax on your own, or for an overnight getaway with your spouse or girlfriends, this is the perfect spot.

You ladies must of had SO much fun! These pictures are awesome, this is the perfect weekend getaway!
Loved the idea of a cottage with friends. Especially liked the idea of having a chef prepare and clean up a meal in cottage. I hate cooking so that would be perfect. The weekend getaway looks like lots of fun and quality time spent with friends.
