Our Family Staycation at Element Vaughan Southwest

We have been out of town a lot over the past few months, so we thought we would switch things up this summer with a staycation! Instead of hopping on a plane, we hopped into the car for a short trip to Vaughan to stay at the Element Vaughan Southwest, and to enjoy some of our favourite attractions in the city!

Element Vaughan Southwest is Canada’s first Element hotel, and you can find it right in the middle of a cluster of restaurants, next door to byPeterandPaul’s Universal event space (home of 6 weddings the day we arrived!), and it’s only 10 minutes away from Toronto Pearson Airport.

It took us just over ten minutes to get to two of our stops during our stay – Legoland Vaughan and Canada’s Wonderland.

Prior to check in we took advantage of our Summer Package – something that Element Vaughan Southwest has to offer. First up, a visit to Legoland Discovery Centre!

With your stay some of the Summer Packages may include passes to Wet N’ Wild, Canada’s Wonderland or Legoland Discovery Centre. We often head to Legoland Discovery Centre since our son loves lego, and we always have a great time there! I luckily got to fit in some shopping as well at Vaughan Mills.

We were also headed off to Canada’s Wonderland later that evening, so we decided to take a bit of time to check into our hotel!

First off, the hotel lobby sprawling with lots of room to sit and relax, along with a communal spot for breakfast (I will get to that later), and doors from the lobby opened to the large patio for guests.

The patio included tables, chairs, heat lamps for evenings out, and pleny of BBQ space for guests to use.

There was also a saltwater pool and a hot tub only open to hotel guests with card access. A gym overlooked the courtyard as well, and there was also a store for quick snacks and treats in the lobby as well.

Our room was a one bedroom suite with a kitchen, desk, and pull out sofa for a second bed. We even had a fold away table in our room as well if we wanted to have dinner in our suite.

I loved the layout because there were sliding doors from our room to the main room where our son would sleep. We had that extra bit of privacy so we could stay up late and watch TV while our son went to bed.

Element hotels also have a commitment to being eco-friendly, and offer 3 ChargePoint electric parking stations, water-efficient Faucets and fixtures, the carpets and furniture in the hotel are made from recycled materials, they use eco-friendly cleaning products, and have recycled paper towels in all of their suites.

The hotel also offers free bike rentals so you can explore the local area which I thought was neat!

We just loved the hotel, but it was time to head off to Canada’s Wonderland! I can’t remember the last time I had been in the evening. That was the best part of this staycation – we were able to stay at Canada’s Wonderland until closing and only had a short drive to our hotel.

The next morning we headed down to breakfast, and it was impressive! Eggs, hash browns, bacon, waffles – you name it, they had it! All guests receive this complimentary breakfast, and it was one of the biggest I’ve seen included with a stay at a hotel.

Our staycation was a lot of fun, and we loved spending some time at the hotel relaxing after running around to all of the local attractions. We had a lot of fun spending time as a family, and getting in some extra fun since we were staying so close to the attractions we visited.
