We are so excited to share our laundry room renovation with you! It was quite the project from start to finish, but we are so happy with how it turned out.
Nothing has motivated me more to keep on top of my laundry then renovating this room! It makes me so happy the way we decorated it from top to bottom, and I actaully really love being in the room now!
After having an old washer and dryer that was unreliable and broke down on us with no chance of repair, we wanted to make sure we chose a brand new washer and dryer from Goemans Appliances that would give us the peace of mind to know we could rely on them. We shared about our shopping experience at Goemans Appliances here so take a look to see what a great experience we had!
We decided to choose the LG Electronics 5.2 Cu. Ft. AI Front-Load Washer and 7.4 Cu. Ft. Electric Dryer based on some expert advice from Nima at Goemans Appliances. He was so helpful during our visit and explained all of the amazing options that these units have which I will explain more about later.
I’ll also share all of the fun decor details as well – but first, here is a reminder of what the room looked like before the makeover.
And now – our new laundry room!
I absolutely love this space! It doesn’t feel like the old laundry room at all. It actually feel so much bigger than it did before!
The décor started with this Wellsville Peel & Stick Floral Wallpaper from Wayfair – I really love the feel it gives to the room. I wanted to keep the walls and trim a bright white to offset this wild looking wall. We’ve actually used peel and stick wall paper before on this project, but this wallpaper seemed a bit trickier. It did take us a few times to get the wallpaper down perfect without any air bubbles, but once it was done I was ecstatic with the result.
The laundry tub and vanity is actually from here and it was a pretty affordable price! I wanted it to match the wallpaper and the washer and dryer, and it was actually quite easy to assemble.
Our quartz countertop is from none other than Quick Quartz Countertops in Pickering, and WOW they were fast! We had someone come in to measure on a Thursday, the installers came back again on Friday to confirm the measurements, and they were back on Monday to install! They had exactly what I was looking for in a counter top, but they had so many other styles and materials that I almost switched things up.
I was very impressed with their whole team who paid close attention to detail when measuring the space, and they had some great advice about the type of material we needed in the room. Because I chose a material that was in stock our project was done in record time, and I thought they did an amazing job with the installation. I can’t even tell you how easy this countertop makes folding laundry – I love it!
Because of the wallpaper I had a really great light in mind and I found this one, but last week we actually needed to change it out with this similar one.
The original one we installed actually wouldn’t turn on, so we had to choose a different one that is thankfully working and looks practically the same.
Our tile is even more gorgeous in person and it’s from The World of Tile in Whitby – I couldn’t find anything at any other tile shop I loved so much. We had to decide which way to lay the tile and the pattern, but I mostly left that up to my husband and I loved how it turned out!
Because this is an upstairs laundry room we decided to add a rather large drain in the room in case of water issues, so my husband laid tile in the drain as well which I thought looked pretty amazing.
The real stars of this makeover are my new LG Electronics 5.2 Cu. Ft. AI Front-Load Washer and 7.4 Cu. Ft. Electric Dryer! Because we had such a basic set for the last ten years I really had no idea about all of the bells and whistles that could come along in a washer and dryer. I was a little worried I would be overwhelmed with different buttons and functions, but it only took me a few loads of laundry to become a seasoned pro!
Some of the things I love include the TurboSteam™ technology in the dryer which generates steam instantly to reduce wrinkles and odors in just ten minutes. I am so used to steaming and ironing my clothes, but now I just throw my shirts into the dyer and press the TurboSteam™ button and in ten minutes everything is wrinkle free! I love this because I can run around getting things done while all of the magic happens!
Something I didn’t fully understand was the AI DD™ feature until I actually ran my first wash cycle. This feature means the washing machine actually weighs your laundry and detects the softness of your fabric to determine a suitable washing pattern.
It’s actually really neat to watch the machine analyze my laundry, redistribute it, and wash it based on what it has detected.
I also really love the ThinQ™ App! It updates me on how much longer my wash or drying schedule has to go, and I get a notification when the cycle is complete. If I don’t have time to grab my clothes in the dyer then it will periodically tumble my laundry load for up to three hours after the cycle is done to keep my laundry wrinkle free.
In the app can also get 1:1 support for each unit, and it will even update me on how many more cycles I have to do before I need to do the Tub Clean Cycle to clean my washer. I really like to monitor my laundry in real-time, so the app is a great feature for me.
By the way, when the washer and dryer are done their cycle I can hear a cheerful tune playing from them in the house, and I have to admit you can’t help but love the song.
Goemans Appliances had so many different options to choose from with a great selection in stock so I could have my new washer and dryer in a couple of days after choosing them. Their delivery drivers had my new units in the upstairs laundry in minutes, and they were gone just as quickly as they arrived!
