I am the photographer in our family. My camera or phone are always in my hands to capture every event, happy moments, and family vacation. It’s rare when my husband starts snapping photos without my instruction, so when it happens it’s usually something pretty amazing.
The moment we stepped into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge I watched my husband pull out his phone, and start taking photos. Photos of everything. He walked out of the washroom telling me I had to go in there because it was so cool.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge met and surpassed our expectations – the theming was incredible, the food was creative and tasty, and we left with a custom droid.
We booked our trip with Air Canada Vacations, and we took advantage of their Orlando Promise. What does that mean? You can book your trip in Canadian currency – this is a huge one for me! I’m always trying to figure out that exchange rate so I don’t go over my budget for trips!
You can also cancel for a full refund up until 7 days before you go on your vacation, and Air Canada Vacations will honour the difference of a Price Drop up to 7 days before you leave on your trip!
Air Canada Vacations also offers daily non-stop flights from Toronto and Montreal to Orlando – this was a big one for me as well because I wanted flexibility on when I left Toronto and returned home!
When it came to booking a Disney resort hotel with Air Canada Vacations we didn’t have a daily resort fee, we had free wi-fi, our airport & theme park transfers were included, and our Fastpasses could be booked online up to 60 days in advance!
All of these perks were huge in making sure our vacation was easy going and so we were able to maximize our time in Orlando! For all of the details you can take a look at the Air Canada Vacations Orlando Promise here!
It’s hard to even begin this post because there is a lot to cover, but let’s start with my video of our morning so you can get a good idea of this amazing place – Batuu!
First off, the theming is incredible. The bathrooms, the garbage cans, the food – everything is creatively themed and you don’t feel like you are in Florida anymore! I couldn’t believe the look and feel of Batuu. It was just incredible.
After speaking to some of the Cast Members I realized they were all a part of the theming as well – they actually spoke Batuuese! They mentioned things like rising moons, data pads, younglings – it took me a minute to understand what was going on, but then I started to catch on.
Resistance troops are in character as well, and they ask you to swear loyalty to the first order! It definitely helps to catch up on all of the Star Wars movies before you visit!
We tried all of the food we could during our adventure! We went to the Milk Stand and tasted the Blue Milk. I honestly couldn’t tell you what it tasted like, but it tasted good! I’m wondering what the Green Milk tasted like, so I will need to try it the next time we go!
We went to Kat Saka’s Kettle for the popcorn which is popped in coconut oil and is a little sweet and spicy. You could also take it home in the Repair Droid Souvenir Popcorn Vessel as well for $19.99.
We went to Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo for Breakfast, and I loved the menu! No chicken fingers and french fries here! You can eat inside in the hangar, or we chose outside in the old marketplace.
Our son had the Bright Suns Youngling Breakfast which was only $6.99 an included an egg, purple potatoes (which were so good!), seasonal fresh fruit and a milk.
I had the Tugg’s Overnight Oats which were purple, with a little mango smoothie, while my husband had the Mustafarian Cinnamon Roll which we all stole a bite of. This breakfast was amazing – creative and so good!
Lunch and dinner at Docking Bay 7 includes items like Shrimp Noodle Salad, Smoked Pork Ribs and Beef Pot Roast.
We didn’t try Ronto Roasters which I regret, but we had already eaten so we couldn’t fit in much more! We also didn’t get into Olga’s Canteen – this you make a reservation for. There was quite the line up to get in so we opted not to wait, but when it’s not too busy they offer tours if you just want to look around.
Toydarian Toymaker, Black Spire Outfitters, Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities – there were a lot of different spots to pick up souvenirs that looked like nothing I had ever seen before. The store’s themselves were so interesting to look inside – the staging was incredible, and just looking around was an adventure.
There are two major purchases that you can book a reservation for or get into a standby line to create your own souvenir. You can create one of four themed light sabers at Savi’s Workshop, or you can create your own droid at the Droid Depot.
For Savi’s Workshop you choose your light saber hilt theme outside, then you are provided a special pin to identify your choice and then you can enter the workshop to create you light saber. The age recommendation is 5 years or older, and each light saber includes a case. This experience retails for $199.99.
After looking inside the Droid Depot we decided we couldn’t leave without creating one! The age recommendation for this is 3+, and the cost was $99.99.
This was really cool. I am so glad we did it – my son loved the whole process, and his droid really is the coolest toy he owns. You could make a BB Series or an R-Series. We went with the R-Series, and this thing is always talking to me at home! I highly recommend this whole experience. We did the standby line and we only waited 20 minutes.
Millenium Falcon: Smugglers Run is the only ride currently open in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. At this time you cannot book a Fastpass for it, and when we arrived at 7:15am the wait time was 120 minutes. We were sad to miss out on the ride, but to be honest we were so distracted by everything around us that we didn’t mind too much! A new ride called Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is slated to open in early December as well.
What else is there to say? I feel like I am repeating myself, but Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge was incredible. I cannot wait to go back, and both my husband and son have said the same thing. It was an amazing adventure we can’t wait to do all over again! I think we hit all of the highlights, but I wouldn’t mind going back to see if there was more we could see and do – or just repeat everything we did this time around!
The Air Canada Vacations Orlando Promise gave us peace of mind, and if you are looking to head to Orlando I highly recommend booking with Air Canada Vacations so you can receive all of the amazing perks and guarantees we received!
