Wine & Cheese Night at Bistro ’67

I don’t know why I didn’t write this post sooner! I’ve eaten at Bistro ’67 a couple of times, and each time I left thinking that I had such an incredible meal. I spent an evening with friends having a night out, and I ate with some local blogger friends at the Chef’s Table in full view of the kitchen where our dinner was being made. Both evenings included great service and some amazing food!

This time around I went in to sample the Bistro ’67 Wine and Cheese Night happening every Thursday where you can enjoy a cheese board and two glasses of local feature wine for only $25 – I had a feeling it would be a great night, and it was!

The wine we started with was from Creekside which is a winery I’ve visited before, so I knew it would be good! Everyone at the table ordered their white wine (a red was offered as well) and we toasted to a fun night!

The cheeseboard’s presentation was gorgeous! It included a spicy feta cheese that I was my favourite on the board, but the fresh parmesan was one I was also happy to indulge in. We ordered more bread to pair with everything because it was just that good!

We all ate up the compotes and spreads to pair with our cheese and wine, and just when we thought we were stuffed we happily took the invitation Executive Chef Raul Sojo offered on a kitchen tour to walk off what we ate.

The kitchen at Bistro ’67 is filled with a combination of skilled staff and students of the Durham College culinary program. The restaurant is within the W. Galen Weston Centre for Food, and the kitchen focuses on a field-to-fork approach to dining.

Ingredients grown in the gardens on site are used for each meal, with the remaining ingredients brought in from local suppliers across Durham Region.

As we walked on in our tour, we saw a huge pot of boiling corn and Chef Raul offered to bring some to the table. We happily obliged, and I didn’t realize he would make it into one of my favourite dishes – mexican-style corn! I was so happy – this was one of my favourite things to eat, and we all LOVED it! I brought the final piece home luckily.

We finished off dinner with a gluten-free cake that we all shared (it was delish!) and we were all officially stuffed. The service and food were all so good that I made a point that I need to bring my hubby back with me soon.

One thing I learned during my visit is that you can order takeout from the restaurant as well! I would love to order one of their cheeseboards for a party!

Bistro ’67 is open Tuesday to Friday for lunch and Tuesday to Saturday for Dinner!

Thank you to Bistro ’67 for having me! I loved sampling the amazing food!
