The holidays are here, and I am so excited to get hosting! I just love gathering family and friends in my home and have everyone else relax and catch up while I prep my home for some fun drinks and eats!
I love putting together some new recipes to munch on with my guests, and it’s even better if I can put together a punch or signature drink for the party. This year I decided to put together an easy holiday drink to get my guests into the holiday spirit, and I decided to take on something I have never tried before – a cheese ball!
To start, I decided to call my signature holiday drink the Merry Pomegranate Spritz! My original intention was to do something with cranberries, but they aren’t all that easy to source right now even with the holidays coming up. I even visited a cranberry farm this past weekend and believe it or not, they were sold out of cranberries!
I decided to use an ingredient I haven’t used at all before – pomegranate! It gave my drink a great fruity twist with the perfect shade of red for the holidays!
I made a larger batch of this drink so I could pour it from a jug for each guest- my thought was that it would be easy for me to socialize at the party instead of making individual cocktails all night.
I picked up the Canada Dry for the recipe along with all of the other ingredients I used for this holiday gathering at Walmart! Everything I needed for my holiday drink recipe and for the holiday cheeseball I created came in at under $35. Sometimes hosting for the holidays can break the bank, but in this case I did rather well. Here are the ingredients for my holiday drink!
Merry Pomegranate Spritz
4 cups of Canada Dry
2 Cups of White Grape Juice
½ Cup of Water
One orange sliced
One apple cubed
One pear cubed
One cup of Pomegranate
Mix together and enjoy!
With each pour all kinds of yummy fruit enter each glass giving a bit of a tasty treat, and the drink looks so festive, too!
This winter, look for specially marked packages of 7UP, Canada Dry and Squirt at Walmart. With every purchase of specially-wrapped product, a donation will be made to The Salvation Army to help them meet the needs of the families and communities that they serve.
I found the drink recipe to be quite easy to put together, and my next task was just as easy, but I found it a little daunting because I had never made a cheeseball before! Here are the ingredients for my holiday cheeseball:
Holiday Cheeseball
1 package cream cheese
1 cup walnuts
1 cup cranberries
3 tbsp of honey
1 tbsp of cinnamon
¼ cup of cranberry sauce
Allow cream cheese to warm up on counter for 20 minutes, then roll together with the honey and cinnamon. Roll into a ball, then cover in the walnut and cranberry mixture and let set for one hour before serving.
This recipe ended up being much easier than I anticipated!
I loved putting together these easy holiday treats! Hosting this season will be breeze if I keep using these simple, but yummy, recipes. I loved that my holiday cocktail involved a product that would give back during the holidays. A donation to The Salvation Army is great way to feel better about the products you choose to purchase this holiday season. So what are you waiting for? Let’s whip up some drinks and start spreading the holiday cheer!
