It always feels like spring is that time of year when suddenly the invitations for wedding and baby showers start to arrive! I think people avoid the holidays as much as possible when it comes to showers, so spring seems like the best time to plan for the celebration of a new arrival or upcoming nuptials.
I go to what feels like A LOT of showers – sometimes I’m actually attending one while trying to figure out when to gracefully leave for the next one. Registry’s tend to make life a bit easier in these circumstances because you can easily grab the Mother-to-Be’s curated wish list of what she needs for her little one.
If you are looking to create your own registry, make sure to check out this post here on how to put one together with one of my favourite stores – buybuyBABY! I LOVE shopping there – they have all of the necessities, plus things you didn’t know you needed but must-have!
I thought I would put together a list of five of my favourite items to give or receive for a baby shower from buybuyBABY to showcase what’s new and exciting at the Whitby store! Some are tried and true can’t-live-without-it favourites, while others are newbies that deserve some attention, plus I wanted to include some creative wrapping ideas to set your gift apart from the rest!
First up – diaper bags! It’s amazing how much these have evolved over the past 5 years. We went from bulky messenger bag style options to sleek and fun styles that are so much more reflective of mom’s who want to add a bit of fun to their look! I fell in love with the Ju-Ju-Be® B.F.F. Diaper Bag in First Lady because it’s so stylish! It can be converted into a backpack, and it’s not only very comfortable to wear, but includes a matching changing pad and is made of polyester so it’s easily cleanable. No matter how put together you want to look, something will always get spilled on you so cleanable everything is a must!
When I had my son there weren’t very many options for diaper waste. My mom actually made me an adorable cover to match my son’s bedding set to cover up that unsightly container! If this pretty little Ubbi® Diaper Pail in Rose Gold was around I wouldn’t want to cover it up for a second! This is so stylish that you would never guess what it was for! It actually fits standard kitchen bags so you don’t need to worry about purchasing expensive refills! That was one expense I didn’t think of when having a baby, so I think that’s a nice bonus. It also has a child proof safety lock, and seals to prevent leaks and keep odors locked in.
So this one has me a little bit excited because I think it’s such a cool idea! The Hatch Baby Grow Scale with Health Metrics App not only acts as a changing pad, but it’s wireless smart scale records the baby’s weight, feeding times and amounts, diaper changes, sleep and more! It’s bluetooth low energy enables, and syncs with the free app so you can record the data you need as you go. I was always wondering my baby’s weight and loved hearing what it was at the doctors office. It would have been amazing to know this easily at home!
This was a must-have for me, and I could actually probably still use it now! The Boon Grass Countertop Drying Rack was perfect for all of those little parts that needed to be washed all of the time! Bottles (especially the Dr. Brown’s bottles!), chew toys, little forks and spoons – there were always so many things that needed to be hand washed and dried. This drying rack was so easy to clean, and the grass held everything in place perfectly.
Another must-have – Sophie! People told me I needed to have a Sophie, but I didn’t really get it until someone else bought my son one and I handed it to him. Once he had it, he wasn’t letting it go. It must have some kind of magical hold over kids because my son could chew on a million things, but Sophie was his favourite. Not only is it a favourite of babies, but it’s such a sweet and pretty gift! This little Sophie la Girafe® and Sophie Cherie Gift Set doesn’t even need to be wrapped it’s so pretty!
Speaking of wrapping – let’s talk about some fun ways to give gifts! First up my favourite – how sweet are these little animals holding these boxes? If you have something small to give like gift cards or soothers, this is a great way to make them larger than life. I just pick up some toy animals and some pretty string, and I thought this was a sweet way to give something to someone at a baby shower.
It’s nice when a gift is functional where wrapping is concerned! For a baby girl headbands are everything! Before they have long hair it’s nice to add a bit of sparkle or flowers with a pretty headband to match their little outfits. It’s so easy to simply wrap a gift, and to add a few headbands to not only make the gift gorgeous, but they have an additional little treat to go along with your present.
I don’t think there is anything cuter than baby socks! Again, another fun way to wrap a gift with a bit of flare is by using those cute socks to make your present pop a bit more! Adding a bit of pretty string and some inexpensive clothes pegs is an adorable way to give your baby shower gift a little extra fun!
