A Sleek New Front Door Look with the Alfred DB2-B

Front door Alfred DB2-B Smart Lock

Since we’ve been home over the last couple weeks we’ve decided to finish up some of those projects that we have been really excited to work on!

A few months ago we replaced our garage doors. I didn’t know I wanted new garage doors until my husband said we needed to replace them. The original garage doors we had were installed by the builder and had no insulation, and the wood was starting to chip away on them.

Unfortunately for my husband I chose the coolest new garage doors which also ended up being the most expensive of the options, but I absolutely I love them!

To finish up this project we knew we had to also update our front doors to match. I hate sharing before photos on the blog, but here are the old doors that we had.

We wanted to update the hardware on the front doors, I knew I wanted to change the color to a dark grey, and we wanted new hardware and also a new smart lock.

The smart lock we chose was the Alfred DB2-B Deadbolt in black. We chose this one because it has a key entry point covered by a sleek swivel cover, and it has a touchscreen for code entry.

We really loved the look of the Alfred DB2-B and thought it would add a really modern touch to our door. We also loved that we could assign up to 20 unique PIN codes that we could provide to different family members who might need access to our home. I also really like that it has voice prompts. It actually says “door closed” which is really cool!

We also have the Z Wave and the Wifi Bridge for our Alfred DB2-B which helps us stay connected through the Alfred App, and we can also connect our lock through our Alexa (or alternatively Google Home or a third party smart home app). This means we can control our lock from anywhere in the world!

I put my husband to work painting the doors and handling the installation! The paint colour we used was called Obsidian Glass.

I love the finished project! The front doors now match the garage doors, and I love the updated hardware and Alfred smart lock! The new hardware looks like it matches the Alfred DB2-B perfectly. I asked my husband to paint the white trim around the glass to match the new grey colour of the doors which took him a bit longer since it was plastic, but I’m so glad he did it because the doors look so much better.

I love the final look of our front doors! They look great with our garage doors, and the front our our home looks a lot more polished. Our Alfred DB2-B is one of the coolest gadgets in our home! I love just using my own personalized code to enter the home, and I also love that just in case there is a back up spot to use a key if need be.

I also love that we can give a personalized code to someone close to us if they need to enter our home. The back up of also being able to access our Alfred DB2-B from anywhere in the world is pretty amazing.

Our son realy gets a kick out of it talking to us as well!
