The blossom x bkr Beauty Water Challenge!

slideshow_2

Do you drink enough water every day?  My personal answer is a resounding no!  I have tried and tried but I usually lose track of how much I have already drank and have just assumed it’s enough for the day, or I pretend that my Starbucks order has enough water in it to hydrate me.

This is bad.

I need to make a change, and now I’ve been challenged to do so!  And I’m not talking about a New Year’s resolution kind of challenge, because those are always broken.  Toronto’s own blossom lounge and bkr have teamed up to challenge 10 beauty and fashion bloggers to take on a 30 day challenge of drinking 2.5 litres of water per day.  The result?  Well I guess you will have to wait and find out!  Water is the key to incredible skin, so part of my challenge is to terrify you with an au natural before photo, and throughout my challenge I will update you with how my skin is progressing with the new hydration I’m providing it.

What are the possible side effects?  Multiple bathroom breaks.  Multiple.  But other then that, why not challenge yourself with something that can only do you some good?

Plus, how cute are these bottles?  I know that when I need to be motivated, something cute will always help things along.  This water bottle is more of an outfit accessory than the tupperware-like creature I was using/not using previously.  Plus the glass bottle is covered in soft silicone as well, so when I’m running around and accidentally drop it, it my not be the huge disaster that it could be!  Celebs like Emily Rossum, Alessandra Ambrosio, January Jones, Gisele Bundchen, Malin Akerman, Jessica Alba and Amanda Seyfried have all been spotted with a blk waterbottle too, so why not you?

So my journey begins!  In the meantime, have you checked out blossom lounge before?  Shop online at www.blossomlounge.com, or in person in Unionville at 157 Main Street, unit 102, or in the Distillery District at  24 Tank House Lane, Suite 101.

Are you ready for this?  Here is my before photo!  Stay tuned for my challenge updates!

Kids Fashion in Toronto from Whistlekids

logo_black

Lately, kids clothing has been my obsession. I love to shop for myself, but there is something very satisfying in dressing my mini-me as fashion forward as possible. I have a boy, so that is even more of a challenge. I do shop at Old Navy and Gap for the basics, but there are really only so many outfits with teddy bears and dinosaur’s one child can have. Why should I buy the latest trends for myself and leave my favourite person on the planet wearing something that doesn’t represent his rocker personality with a side of uber coolness?

Enter Whistlekids – this store carries brands that other stores in Toronto do not, and it’s filled with items I kept saying to myself that I wished was in my size.

They even have mini Hudson jeans for girls, and Brian Lichtenberg Homies sweatshirts and tee’s – a favourite of Miley Cyrus.

The design of the store is bright and modern, and the back of the store has room for children’s change rooms and even a play area for children.

For the boys, there are funky bibs, ties, bow ties, fedoras, and fun pacifier clips. For the girls there are toy wands, hairbands, tutus and costume jewelry. Everything seems unique to what you would normally find in a children’s clothing store, and everything has a fashionable flair.

My favourites included the YYZ LAX t-shirt by Dilascia I picked up for my son, the comfy and stretchy striped pants by electrik kidz, and the electrik kidz bandana I plan to use as a bib for my son.

Eventually the store will carry merchandise online which is a great bonus, and I was given a sneak peak at the look book of some of the clothing the store will be bringing in soon and it’s to die for. Incoming kids harem pants and other funky prints and patterned clothing already has shoppers on a waiting list for their arrival.

Whistlekids is located at 1693 Avenue Road in Toronto, or you can check them out online at www.whistlekids.com

Where to Shop – Toronto’s New J.Crew Collection Store

026

On Thursday night I was lucky enough to be invited to and attend the new J.Crew Collection store opening cocktail party on Bloor West in Toronto.

The Collection store features a selection of jewelry, handbags, shoes and clothing for both men and women.  The pieces sold at this store are limited edition, and are part of the collection shown at Fashion Week.  It’s a very exclusive curation of clothing and accessories!

The party was full of cocktails, amazing  hors d’oeuvres (mini sprinkle doughnuts and tiny mac and cheese bites!), a DJ, and impeccably dressed party goers.

Manniquins were dressed in clothing straight from New York Fashion Week, only shown on the runway a few short days ago.

Here are some photos from the night!

Where to Find Workout Clothing that Doesn’t Suck

Nike_Tight_of_the_Moment_Magical_Kaleidoscope_2

I hate the gym.  HATE IT.  Despite that, I recently signed up for a gym membership and have been going 4 days a week (it’s only been a month, so I’m sure I will fall off the wagon soon).  I find that I am not motivated to work out in an old t-shirt and sweats.  It actually makes working out a bit more fun to look pulled together and colour coordinated!

While on the hunt for cute clothing to workout in, I complied a list of my favourites which do not include a Haynes t-shirt.  As comfortable as that t-shirt is, it’s pretty much hiding all of the reasons I am at the gym in the first place!  There are definitely days when I don’t feel like putting in any effort at all, and on those days I need some extra motivation in the form of a good outfit.  And maybe some ice cream after my workout to celebrate my hard work.  So in the end why am I going to the gym?  It’s really just for the ice cream.
