How to Make a Starbucks Drink Costume

I thought I would get creative this year and make my costume rather than buy it! I’ve been buying costumes for the last few years mostly because I haven’t had a lot of time on my hands, but I decided to tackle this costume on my own because it seemed easy, and like a really fun project!

It took me under 30 minutes to make it, I didn’t sew a thing, and it cost me about $40 in materials. Not bad right?

Here’s what I needed:

Glue Gun
Scissors
White sturdy material for the cup
Strip of burlap
15 pieces of felt
One paper towel roll
Green paint
Velcro (optional)

I went to Fabricland and choose a slightly stiff white material so it looked like I was wearing a cup. Warning – the stiffer the material, the harder to sit! It was about a meter and a half, but I ended up cutting it down smaller when I got home.

I cut two holes for arms, and the Velcro had an adhesive on the back so I stuck it onto the costume.

Next up I cut my burlap into a strip so it looked like a Starbucks sleeve, and glued it on. Next up I started gluing on my felt to make it look like whipped cream. There was no rhyme or reason to this – I just glued it all over the place!

I Google searched Starbucks logo’s online and ended up printing off one that looked great enlarged, and glued it onto the costume.

Finally, I pained a cardboard paper towel roll green, and I glued it onto an old hairband. I surrounded it with more felt to make it look like whipped cream, and to cover up the ugly way I glued that paper towel roll onto the hairband.

That’s it!

It was so easy!

After I put this all together, the next day I went back over the costume to add more glue so I knew things wouldn’t fall off once I started wearing it. I knew it was hit because when I was shooting wearing this costume someone yelled out their front door “I love it!”. Mission accomplished!

This one was so fun to make, and it’s surprisingly sturdy! I’m sure I can wear it again next year!
