Styling the Graham & Brown Pocket Watch Clock

image

This month Graham & Brown challenged me to do some styling with this year’s precious trend in mind.

“Precious is an appreciation for all things vintage and antique. Whether you are redecorating, buying a few wall art pieces, or simply making a statement of your attic treasures, make sure you have fun with this one. Create your very own museum of you, full of memories.” – The Precious Trend

My husband and I have been working on a wall project for the past year. We have been slowly adding things to our collection, mostly curated items from my husband’s families past.

The family owned a boat building business, and they built the boats we all still use today. We spend most of our summer’s at the boat, enjoying the sunshine and having picnics at the beach.

We spent lots of time pouring over photos, some decades old of different boats they made on the water.

Each photo had to be digitally re-mastered and reprinted because of wear and tear, but slowly our collection grew to showcase some great vintage shots of some of these boats.

It’s an ongoing project – there are a few more specific boats we would like to add, but we are slowly getting there. We added a few touches of our own like paddles my husband sanded and painted himself and a depth chart he created from wood found at the dock as well.

As something to add from our own family (and keeping to the nautical theme), we added a photo of a crab we saw on the beach when were in Turks and Caicos last year.

We wanted to add more to the room, and one thing that we thought would fit in perfectly was the Pocket Watch Clock. It says London on it which is perfect because that is the name of our son!

It has a great vintage look, and we thought it worked perfectly with the room.

I love that we have a wall in our home with so many items that are unique to our family. Adding the vintage-style clock was the perfect addition to the room!

The clock has the perfect colouring to give that vintage feel, and it really worked well with our existing theme.

I realized later this is the only clock we have in our house, so it was much needed!

Review of Yves Saint Laurent LE TEINT TOUCHE ÉCLAT Illuminating Foundation

Review of Yves Saint Laurent LE TEINT TOUCHE ÉCLAT Illuminating Foundation

Oh how I hate it when products I love are discontinued! It seems to happen to me all the time. It’s really frustrating when I love something, and suddenly there is a new formula, or the product is gone all together.

A couple weeks ago I went to pick up my favourite Make Up For Ever foundation only to find the shelves bare, and a new formula “coming soon”. There was no official launch date for the new formula I am not even sure I want, so I was forced to walk the make-up isles looking for a replacement.

I decided to replace my foundation with Yves Saint Laurent LE TEINT TOUCHE ÉCLAT Illuminating Foundation. Do not ask me to pronounce it – I am pretty sure I would butcher the pretty French name for my new makeup.

I have a couple other YSL items like my Creme de Blush and lip gloss and I was happy with both, so I gave it a try.

There is definitely a scent to this foundation, so I would recommend smelling it before you buy it to make sure you like it. I am scent girl, and I do think it smells pretty so the scent didn’t bother me at all.

Review of Yves Saint Laurent LE TEINT TOUCHE ÉCLAT Illuminating Foundation

It is so weightless to apply it’s pretty shocking! It felt so different then my previous foundation it almost felt like I had nothing on my face. With a primer it felt like it wouldn’t set properly, so I preferred it just on my bare skin. I also gave it time to dry and set before applying powder to my face so it would last longer.

This is the perfect foundation if you want a little cover before heading out the door. I feel like it looks much better on me when I am wearing light makeup – it really seems to enhance the look of your skin.

The foundation illuminates your skin, so I did have a great glow when I wore it. My only concern was that even with my oily skin under control right now, the illumination can sometimes look a little dewy or oily. I found that I only had that problem if I had quite a bit of the foundation on.

It is long lasting, but it seems to last longer with some powder to set it.

It is formulated without parabens, sulfates, petrochemicals, phthalates, GMOs and triclosan, which all sound like things you don’t want on your skin or in your makeup!

I was normally spending about $40 on my foundation, so moving up to $62 for a foundation hurt a little but I do see why it is priced a bit higher. It does illuminate your skin, which is something I haven’t experienced in a foundation before.

Would I buy it again? I would. At first I wasn’t a fan because I felt like it was making my skin look oily, but now that I have mastered the application I do like it! I think my skin does look better with this foundation rather than the one I loved from Make Up For Ever.

Graphic Tee’s and Tanks with Something to Say

More issues than vogue t shirt

I may not actually have More Issues Than Vogue like my t-shirt says (I guess it depends on who you speak to about me), but I like how fun this t-shirt is.

The slogan trend on graphic tanks and tees is picking up everywhere, and while some of the sayings can be a little cheesy, many are cute and clever.

I paired my own tee with a pretty dressed-down ensemble, but I have seen some great shirts paired with tulle skirts and heels.

Here is my roundup of my favourite graphic tee’s and tanks below!

Review of NIVEA Q10plus Anti-Wrinkle Serum Pearls

Review of NIVEA Q10plus Anti-Wrinkle Serum Pearls

Over the last year I have really started taking care of my skin. When I was younger I tanned without sunscreen, went to bed without makeup on, and rarely exfoliated. All of that has stated to catch up with me, so I have been doing some damage control!

A new product I have tried that is showing me some pretty amazing results is NIVEAQ10plus Anti-Wrinkle Serum Pearls. When I was younger I used to think it was cute to have those wrinkles around my eyes when I would smile big and bright! Now I can feel those lines deepening, so I thought I would try a product that could improve the look of my wrinkles.

NIVEA Q10plus Anti-Wrinkle Serum Pearls promises to transform the look of skin with freshly activated pearls. What does this mean? There are small pearls in the bottle and as you squeeze them through the nozzle, they disappear into a smooth consistency so they can be applied to your face. You are literally breaking these pearls just before they are applied, and they are enriched with creatine, hyaluronic acid, and the highest concentration of energy coenzyme Q10 within the NIVEA Q10plus range. These cute little pearls are supposed to give you a more refined and younger-looking complexion. Doesn’t that sound great? A younger and more refined look sounds good to me!

Review of NIVEA Q10plus Anti-Wrinkle Serum Pearls

So what did I think of it? First of all, I thought it was pretty neat that these pearls were freshly broken before being applied to my face. Freshly activating the product’s ingredients before each use seemed provide an opportunity for a greater impact of what this cream could do! The smell of the cream was lovely, and it felt very soothing when applied to my skin. I had no skin irritation at all, and even just applying it to my skin improved the look of my complexion immediately.

I applied the product each morning before my moisturizer, and my make up. Both seemed to glide over top of this serum. It felt like I had a primer on because my skin felt so smooth, but really I was fighting the look of wrinkles!

NIVEA Q10plus Anti-Wrinkle Serum Pearls contain revolutionary pearl technology and ingredients similar to those found naturally in the skin. By working in harmony with your skin, NIVEA Q10plus Pearls reduce the visible signs of aging.

Is it working? Well I am still using it daily, which means I am impressed with my results so far. It has visibly improved the look of my skin, and I love the way it feels! I seriously don’t have time for wrinkles, so this product has joined my beauty bag arsenal!

NIVEA Q10plus Anti-Wrinkle Serum Pearls are available at all major drug, grocery and mass merchandise stores across Canada and it retails for approximately $19.99.

For more information, visit the NIVEA website here, and visit them on Facebook here, or check out the hashtag #q10pearls on social media to see more results and product information.

Grand Opening of Never Grow Up Toronto

Never Grow Up Toronto Opening sparkleshinylove.com

This past weekend I attended the grand opening of Never Grow Up – a hip children’s clothing store located at 1725 Bayview Avenue in Toronto. This is the second location for Never Grow Up – you can also find them in Oakville!

There were sweet treats, and lots of great clothing options for boys and girls aged newborn to 10 years old.

They carry designers like Andy and Evan, Blune, Chic Mammas, Electrik Kidz, Hucklebones, Lazy Pants, Knot, and one of my personal favourites, Ollie Jones!

There are too many to list – lots of different brands, and nothing like you would find at the mall. I love shopping in kids boutiques like this one because there are some really hip and fresh styles.

There was everything from sequins and tutu’s for girls, to rough and tumble alligator sweatshirts for boys.

It’s a kid-friendly space with lots of room to maneuver a stroller inside, and the space itself is playful and pretty.

I really loved these Ollie Jones leggings! I hate to always dress my son in jeans, so I often put him in boys leggings for comfort and style. How great are these patterns?

This new shop is going into my rotation when shopping for my friends children, and of course my own fashion forward toddler. I really loved how stylish some of the clothing was. It’s fun to get a few special pieces that not all of the other kids are going to be wearing on the playground.
